What is a Peace Team? Who is MPT?

Who are we?

We are autonomous, self-organized affinity teams of individuals.
We are all leaders; we are all part of the team.
We are here to protect human rights and human life, creating space for productive conflict and its resolution. We are creating the world we want to exist by living it: a world where conflict and confrontation are healthy and inevitable and can occur with a mutual respect for human rights and dignity; a world where voluntary cooperation, egalitarian relationships, soldairty and mutual aid are the norm.
We are volunteer peacemakers invited by USSF organizers.
We are not here to impose our solution (or any solution); we are here to help create a safe space for those involved in conflict so that they may come to their own solutions.
We are here working together as Michigan Peace Team (MPT).

So who is MPT?

MPT is a group of individuals creating a nonviolent alternative to militarism through empowered peacemaking. MPT seeks a just world grounded in nonviolence and respect for the sacred interconnectedness of all life. MPT trains individuals in nonviolence and places violence reduction peace teams (when invited) in war zones and places of conflict where a there is a likelihood of violence. MPT has (and is recruiting for) teams in Palestine and in Juarez, Mexico as well as “domestic” teams within the U.S. Learn more! http://www.michiganpeaceteam.org/
